PhD (Engineering): A Master's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ or equivalent with a good academic record who have secured Masters degree admission based on GATE score or valid CSIR-SRF or equivalent fellowship.
PhD (Science): A Master's degree in Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Medicine having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. DST, DBT, ICMR, etc), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships
Fast Track PhD in Engineering: BE/BTech/Equivalent from premier Institutes (IIT's, NIT's, well reputed Central and State Universities, BITS Pilani) with University/Institute first rank in an Engineering discipline are eligible to apply for PhD programmes in the discipline where the graduating department or discipline are appropriate. Valid Gate score is required for availing fellowship.
Integrated PhD (Engg): Only CSIR-PGRPE QHS (T) qualifying this year

Fee Structure:
Enrollment Fee is Rs.12,000/- per year, which is deducted as Rs.1000/- per month from the regular fellowship of the students.

Step 1: Create Your Account: By clicking at the Register link and enter your valid email id after verification of your email id, user name and password will be send to your email id.
Step 2: Login and Online Application Form: Login with the username and password you receive in your email ID as provided in Step 1 above. Fill up the Online Application form carefully, confirm the particulars displayed in the Confirmation Page.
Step 3: Fill Application form with Select or Type option : The form is designed to accept inputs in both “typed” or “pull-down” menu. You may use one of the options provided or enter the correct input you wish. For example, when choosing “Nationality”, if your nationality is other than Indian (which is the only option given), then simply start typing in the box. This applies for all fields are marked with “Select or Type”
The editing of the form is not allowed. However, you may fill the form as many times (till the last date) as you want from the same email account.
Step 4: After the form is filled-up, a preview page is generated. This preview page is for your record.
Step 5: An authentic application form also becomes ready for download which you may save. You may print it but do not send the printout to us. The form shall be printed separately.
Step 6: A PDF(.pdf) version of the form can be downloaded any time from this account. The same form shall be available for signature if you are short-listed for interview.
Step 7: Other instructions shall be provided to you through this account and/or email in the event of your being short-listing for the PhD programme.
Step 8: You may have to bring your original certificates and a full set of self-attested certificates during the final admission process at the lab.

Popularly known as NCL, a constituent member of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) India, it was established in 1950. There are approximately 200 scientific staff working here. The interdisciplinary research center has a wide research scope and specializes in polymer science, organic chemistry, catalysis, materials chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemical sciences and process development. It houses good infrastructure for measurement science and chemical information.
National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms (NCIM) is located here and is a microbial culture repository maintaining a variety of industrially important microbial culture stock.
There are about 400 graduate students pursuing research towards doctoral degree; about 50 students are awarded Ph.D. degree every year; and the young talent pool adds in every few years.
NCL publishes over 400 research papers annually in the field of chemical sciences and over 60 patents worldwide. It is a unique source of research education producing the largest number of PhDs in chemical sciences within India.
