* The application should be down-loaded through Institute web-site www.svnit.ac.in. The application duly filled in all respects with requisite fee should be submitted to the ‘Registrar, SVNIT Surat, Ichhanath, Surat-395007’ before due date.

The M. Tech. (Research) Programmes are being offered in the following disciplines:

Admission and eligibility criteria for M. Tech. Programmes

NON - SPONSORED CANDIDATES (with GATE score):

a) OPEN CATEGORY/OBC CATEGORY:
· B.E./ B. Tech. / B. Arch.* or equivalent degree in respective discipline with minimum of 50% aggregate (all semesters/years) marks or (CGPA 5.5) and
· Possessing valid GATE score.

b) RESERVED SC/ST CATEGORY
· B.E./ B. Tech. / B. Arch.* or equivalent degree in respective discipline with minimum of 45% aggregate (all semesters/years) marks or (5.0 CGPA) and
· Possessing valid GATE score.

NON - SPONSORED CANDIDATES (Non-GATE):

a) OPEN CATEGORY/OBC CATEGORY:
· B.E./ B. Tech. / B. Arch.* or equivalent degree in respective discipline with minimum of 50% aggregate (all semesters/years) marks or (CGPA 5.5)

b) RESERVED SC/ST CATEGORY

· B.E./ B. Tech. / B. Arch.* or equivalent degree in respective discipline with minimum of 45% aggregate (all semesters/years) marks or (5.0 CGPA)

SPONSORED CANDIDATES:

a) OPEN CATEGORY:
· B.E. or equivalent degree in respective discipline with minimum of 50% aggregate (all semesters/years) marks ( CGPA=5.5) and
· Preference will be given to the candidates with valid GATE score.
· Minimum working experience of one year after graduation.


b) RESERVED SC/ST CATEGORY

· B.E. or equivalent degree in respective discipline with minimum of 45% aggregate (all semesters/years) marks ( CGPA 5.0) and
· Preference will be given to the candidates with valid GATE score. However, one seat may be filled at a higher preference for those candidates who are working at SVNIT in sponsored research project. Such candidate should have worked in the department for at least six months.
· Minimum working experience of one year after graduation.

APPLICATION AND COUNSELING PROCEDURE

(i) The applicants for M. Tech. (with GATE score), M Tech (Sponsored), M. Tech. (Non-GATE) are required to apply OFF LINE as per format enclosed at Appendix-E.

(ii) All the candidates are required to remain present in respective departments of the Institute on their due date of counseling.

(iii) The candidates are required to bring all the certificates related to educational qualification, birth and sponsorship (if required). The Sponsored candidates who are not able to produce ‘Sponsorship Certificate’ on the date of counseling, they have to fill up an undertaking as per the format enclosed in Appendix-‘D’ during the counseling. OBC (non-creamy layer, central list)/ SC/ST candidates are required to produce caste/tribe certificate either in English/Hindi from competent authority of current financial year. In case the said certificates are in regional language, translated equivalent certificate in Hindi/English, notarised by a public notary, must be produced. In absence of these certificates it will not possible to conduct the counseling/interview of candidate.

(iv) The candidates have to pay an application and processing Fee (Non-refundable) of Rs.1000/-(for Open/OBC) and Rs.500/-(SC/ST) with the application form. The fee has to be paid in the form of crossed Demand Draft in favour of “The Director, SVNIT, Surat” payable at Surat at the time of respective counseling/interviews.

(v) The application duly filled in all respect with requisite fee should be submitted to the ‘Registrar, SVNIT Surat, Ichhanath, Surat-395007’ before due date.

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat is one of the 17 Regional Engineering Colleges that were established as joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat. It was established in June 1961 with facilities to run Bachelor's Degree Programmes in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering disciplines. It is now changed to National Institute of Technology along with other RECs.
From the academic session 1978-79, the college switched over to the four year Degree programmes. In the year 1983-84, an under Graduate Course in Electronics Engineering had been introduced with an intake of 60 students. From the year 1988-89, two additional courses viz. Production Engineering and Computer Engineering were introduced with the approved intake of 30 students in each. From the year 1995-96 a degree course in Chemical Engineering had been introduced with an intake of 30 students which was later increased to 60 students from the year 1996-97.
