ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMME, JULY 2011
CSIR-IIIM invites application for admission to Ph.D. programme in the relevant
areas of research in the Institute.
Conditions for eligibility: M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Life sciences/Biotechnology/Chemistry/Pharmaceutical sciences and qualified in CSIRUGC-NET, ICMR, DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining. Candidates appearing in final exams in 2011 and who have cleared the above exams for JRF can also apply. How to apply: Candidates need to fill up the application form till 18th May 2011 that can be downloaded from the Institute’s website. Application should be sent by email to email@example.com as an attachment. Hard copy of the application along with photocopies of certificates of date of birth, educational qualifications and proof of qualifying JRF examination should be sent by post/ by hand to Chairman, Academic Affairs Committee, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Canal Road, Jammu – 180 001 so as to reach latest by 25th May 2011. Applications without hardcopy submission of documents will not be considered. Selection process: All applicants will be screened by a committee and only those candidates who are found suitable will be called for interview/counselling at IIIM, Jammu. The committee can set their own criteria for short listing the candidates. No TA / DA will be paid for attending the interview. The number of students to be selected will depend on the vacancies available with scientists at IIIM.

The Laboratory was established in 1941 as a research and production centre, known as Drug Research Laboratory of J&K State and was later taken over by Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) of Govt. of India in December 1957 as Regional Research Laboratory, Jammu. In view of its core strength in natural products based drug discovery, the mandate of Institute was redefined in 2005 and its name changed to Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM). The current mandate of IIIM is to discover new drugs and therapeutic approaches from Natural Products, both of plant and microbial origin, enabled by biotechnology, to develop technologies, drugs and products of high value for the national and international markets.
